Adam is a musician and a practitioner of ecological restoration. He holds a B.Sc. in Biology and Environmental Studies, with a Diploma in the Restoration of Natural Systems, from the University of Victoria. In addition to producing and hosting the podcast, he works as the Restoration Coordinator for the Galiano Conservancy on Galiano Island in British Columbia. Photo by Eric Hagen
Mendel is a recovering industrial designer, amateur mushroom nerd, and garden-variety dork. They especially love fruit, bikes, and dancing. Mendel served as president of the Vancouver Mycological Society for 7 years, and continues to lead public mushroom identification and education hikes.

Fern is a nature mentor who finds immense joy in encouraging youth to find their own meaningful relationships to the earth and themselves by awakening curiosity, authenticity, and play. She holds a BLAS in Environmental Studies from Quest University Canada and is working towards completing a Diploma in the Restoration of Natural Systems from University of Victoria.

Andrzej is a soundscape recordist, songwriter, and naturalist. He is founder of the blog and concert series, Half Wild. Andrzej has worked in conservation for The Nature Conservancy, WWF, Rare, and other nonprofits, and founded Paragon Philanthropy in 2012 to support global grantmaking.

Sarah Sax is a freelance multimedia journalist, producer, and writer covering the intersection of food, forests, and human rights. Her work has appeared in The Washington Post, WIRED, Orion Magazine, Undark, Discover, VICE News Tonight on HBO, and elsewhere. She has a broad interest in the environment, and is especially interested in issues of transnational justice and the environment. Much of her work is focused on environmental human rights defenders, land conflicts, and climate change. She has worked on Emmy award-winning segments at VICE News Tonight on HBO and her work has been a finalist for the Deadline Club Award and received honorary mentions in 2018 and 2019 at the Society for Environmental Journalists. Most recently, she was the series producer for a 6-part VICE World News documentary series on the Anthropocene.

Sadie Couture is a digital media artist, producer, educator, and scholar based in Vancouver, British Columbia/Musqueam, xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Squamish, Skwxwú7mesh, and Tsleil-Waututh səliľwətaʔɬ territories. Her work and interests lie at the intersection of radio history, sound studies, and community-engaged art. She writes about, and makes, audio in various settings. Sadie is a PhD student in Communication Studies at McGill University, holds an MA in Media Studies from Concordia University and a BA in Philosophy and Gender Studies from the University of British Columbia. Russell Gendron is a musician and sound artist whose work deals with place, oral histories, and our relationships with one another and the world around us. Recent work includes a sound map about Mayne Island, B.C. as well as a full-length studio album largely about his home in Vancouver. Currently, he’s thinking about making music with friends, which is something he loves to do. Until then, he can be found watching movies in the middle of the day. Gendron’s projects and research have been generously supported by multiple organizations including Canada Council for the Arts, The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, B.C. Arts Council, Factor Canada and The Vancouver Foundation.

Toon Vos is a Brussels-based writer, editor and fledgling designer with a soft spot for wild bees and cartography. Apart from working at Are We Europe magazine, he is chipping away at a print publication called Ivory Tower, hoping to stir people's curiosity. On other days, he loves working on multimedia stories about ecology, technology, and sometimes, nature-loving cyborgs.

Lili is a filmmaking student at Emily Carr, with a passion in sound and animation. Her most recent work Growth and Wonder features an interactive animation of a growing seed into a full family of biome. She likes exploring different aspects of the environment, then find ways to convey them through storytelling or simple art forms.
As an Embedded Practices intern from ECUAD, Lili helped Future Ecologies create soundscape elements on FE4.2 and FE4.3
Wilson Henry is an artist and writer based in Kjipuktuk (Halifax). They are grateful to live in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. Wilson interned with Future Ecologies in April 2022 and is a graduate of the University of King’s College Bachelor of Journalism.
